Founded on 6 March 2017 in Istanbul, following the closure by statutory decree of the Istanbul Kurdish Institute, which had been founded on 18 April 1992, the Kurdish Studies Association (Komeleya Lêkolînên Kurdî) works on Kurdish-language education, the preparation of educational materials, the production and development of academic publications, and mother-tongue education and language rights.
Our association is also a body that, always placing democratic and pluralist values at the centre of its work on language rights and mother-tongue rights, organises workshops aimed at learning and developing the mother tongue; produces academic publications in fields such as history, literature, language, and culture; monitors and reports rights violations experienced in the use and teaching of the mother tongue; carries out work to eliminate these rights violations; and organises panels, seminars, and workshops on language rights, mother-tongue education, and related issues.
You can get in touch with us for help, support, or collaboration on your work related to the Kurdish language and its dialects (Kurmanji, Zazaki, Sorani, Kelhuri, Leki, Hewrami, and Lori), or on your work in the field of mother-tongue and language rights.
