The association was founded to support LGBT citizens in embracing liberatory values, realising their existence on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity, developing themselves, and being able to contribute — through their individual, social, and cultural lives and conduct — to the development of social peace, harmony, and wellbeing.
The main aim of Mersin 7 Renk LGBT Association is to raise awareness across society regarding LGBTI+ individuals, who face discrimination and stigmatisation in many areas of life. To achieve this aim, the association carries out a variety of activities both in Mersin and in other provinces. Foremost among these activities are the reporting of rights violations against LGBTI+ people at the local and regional level, case monitoring, scientific research, training, workshops, routine meetings with LGBTI+ individuals, and workshops, symposiums, and conferences attended by people from various disciplines.
