Known for short as MED-DER, since its founding in 2017 the association has served as a bridge for the coexistence of different languages, cultures, beliefs, and identities in the region. Beyond these areas of activity, the association also carries out work based on women’s, children’s, and human rights, and, based in Diyarbakır, works in close relationship with institutions and networks established in the region for women’s and children’s rights.
With this perspective, the association organises language and education workshops, translation workshops, prepares materials for these workshops, and holds workshops and seminars; it organises panels and symposiums for education in the mother tongue, provides multilingual announcement services at book fairs, and holds panels on language, culture, and education in the mother tongue.
It also provides translation services to organisations that request them, compiles works of oral and written Kurdish literature, and carries out joint work with various institutions in organising events.
