As Nirengi Association, we embrace the rights-based approach that defines individuals as “rights-holders” and the state and certain non-state actors as “duty-bearers” responsible for securing these rights. Accordingly, as Nirengi Association, we position ourselves as a CSO that places rights-holders at the centre of our field of work. In line with this, our core approach is to hold duty-bearing institutions and organisations — the state foremost among them, but including ourselves — accountable for fulfilling their obligations and to support them in taking action, while also supporting rights-holders in becoming empowered to claim their rights.
Among our most prominent activities is our Support Line Against Abuse programme, through which we provide free legal counselling and psychosocial support to children who have been subjected to violence or abuse, and to their caregivers. Calls to the support line, reachable at 0850 216 53 67, are answered in line with the caller’s profile and are connected with legal counselling and/or psychosocial support according to their needs. All forms of physical, sexual, emotional, and economic abuse and violence fall within the scope of this line. Support under the Support Line Against Abuse programme is provided online across Turkey.
