About the Program
Haklara Destek II aims to contribute to the advancement of human rights and participatory democracy by supporting small scale and grassroots human rights organisations. The Haklara Destek Program (Haklara Destek) operates as a sub-granting mechanism financed by the Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and managed by Hafıza Merkezi and Heinrich Böll Stiftung.
During Haklara Destek I, which took place between July 2020 and June 2021, 48 organisations working with a rights-based approach went through a capacity building program involving institutional grants and simultaneous mentoring, one-to-one expert support, and workshops in priority areas. After the program, the report titled The Shrinking Democratic Space and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Turkey from the Perspective of 48 Rights-Based CSOs was published.
Through Haklara Destek II, which is expected to start in January 2023, the goal is to offer institutional grants and capacity building support for at least 40 human rights organisations for a period of two years.
