Founded on September 1, 2021, by a group of activists, academics, and artists experienced in civil society and rights-based advocacy in Diyarbakır, the Cultural Research Center for Peace (bakad) aims to strengthen democracy and achieve social peace based on principles of participation and inclusivity. 

bakad aims to spread the culture of peace in Turkey through scientific and artistic production aiming to understand the structural and cultural background of social inequalities based on race, gender, sexual orientation/gender identity, religion/belief, age, and class in Diyarbakır.
