Association of University Faculty Members

Founded in 1989, the Association of University Faculty Members aims to ensure solidarity and unity among all academic staff currently and formerly employed at higher education institutions, to defend their rights and interests, to encourage scientific and artistic studies, and to work towards establishing a democratic environment in which higher education can develop freely.

As a part of the wider struggle for the rights and freedoms of all constituents of the university (academic staff, staff and students) in Turkey and the struggle for gender equality in the university, the association is also actively engaged in the struggle against all violations of rights and freedoms in order to contribute to building a democratic society.

All academic staff and students presently or formerly employed at higher education institutions can apply to the association in case their rights and academic freedoms have been violated.

The association is open to cooperation as regards organizing all kinds of research, conferences, workshops, and forums in the field of education and training, voicing, criticizing and protesting problems occurring in these matters, and academic staff’s struggle for their rights and academic freedoms.
