We held the 8th experience sharing meeting where Haklara Destek organizations shared “best practices” from their respective fields on March 28. In this meeting, Human Rights Association (İnsan Hakları Derneği, İHD), Clean Clothes Campaign Association (Temiz Giysi), Right to Health Association (Sağlık Hakkı Derneği), Diyarbakır Association for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets (Diyarbakır Kültür Tabiat Varlıklarını Koruma ve Yaşatma Derneği, DKVK) and Social Policies, Gender Identity and Sexual Orientation Studies Association (Sosyal Politika, Cinsiyet Kimliği ve Cinsel Yönelim Çalışmaları Derneği, SPoD) shared their experiences.
The organizations discussed the processes through which they became part of the networks, the impact of these networks on their organizations, the responsibilities they assumed, and the ways they strive to render their work in these networks sustainable. It was stated that participating in network meetings and congresses not only increases solidarity and international visibility but also facilitates access to international support when drawing attention to violations. It was also mentioned that the language barrier can sometimes be a problem since the workload can fall on a single person. Additionally, the positive impact of the support from networks and organizations on campaigns was discussed. Access to information about other networks and organizations through networking was also highlighted as a positive outcome.
The next experience-sharing meeting, which will focus on nutrition and food aid, will be held on May 9.
