Mordem Sanat ve Ekolojik Yaşam Derneği
Mordem Art and Ecologic Life Association
Mordem Sanat Derneği is an independent art complex in Diyarbakır composed of a 160-seat convertible theater-cinema, backstage, dance studio, music classes, sculpture workshop, working space, and foyer.
It emphasizes interdisciplinary communication and the importance of establishing a relationship by producing joint works. Mordem Sanat considers it a duty to speak up about democratic rights and contribute to the construction of social peace and advocates that art is the most suitable way to achieve a society that is peaceful, conscious, democratic, fair, and selfless, that preserves nature, and that is founded on the approach that do not render other anyone because of their identity or orientation. It contends that ethnic and cultural differences enrich the society. It fosters a pluralist consciousness against social polarization and discrimination and endorses the participation of individuals in cultural life. Mordem Sanat, while seeking for ways to reintroduce cultural forms that are about to be lost in society, draws its inspiration from the past and its motivation from its contemporary and up-to-date character. Mordem Sanat either takes the leading role or participates in production-oriented relationship between art branches, artists, independent initiatives and collectives through research and ongoing current works. We aim to keep the plays, workshops, and projects we stage alive in different forms with this in mind and without touching the essence and to revitalize them in the social memory.
